Total Eclipse

Description

We are so stoked to be collaborating once again with Coffin Nachtmahr, the founder of OhYesYo. We are better together!

Previous collaborations:

Inspired by the great solar eclipse of 2017 and the idea that the sum is greater than the parts, The One Drop x OhYesYo Eclipse was released November 2, 2018. 

We followed this up with the Lunar Eclipse in June of 2021.

And now we have the Total Eclipse which features MK1 Caps and, if you’re lucky, hand painted original art by Coffin. Since cool things happen in threes, this will be the third time we are doing a Blind Box. With a Blind Box release, all of the yo-yos from the run are sealed up and mixed so that no one knows what is in each box. The price per “box” is $100 and you will get a yo-yo from the run. Total Eclipse is what feels to me like a completed journey of exploration of the original 2018 Eclipse - everything I've learned from myself and the community helped shape this into its current iteration.

Most visually obvious is the addition of caps. As I've grown in my artistic expression I always wanted to bring that to yo-yo. Inspired by John Higby and a few others, I began custom painting yoyos just before the original Eclipse came out and while I never wanted to do an engraving, I wanted something special on the eclipse to make it visually distinct this time. The caps are what the naming of this iteration comes from as they cover the entire inner cup of the yoyo in totality and give me a canvas to work with. 

In addition to selfishly wanting a place to paint, some of my favorite yoyo memories were chasing down specific caps for different freehands and modding yoyos with weight rings and LED kits. This platform is open to interpretation as it's the "standard" 48 mm cap size so almost anything you already have will fit and you can customize it to your liking.

Originally the release was set for PNWR 2026 and the art themes were tied to the Portland Japanese gardens. Since we weren’t able to do that, I added 8 more hand painted sets that are on the Infected Blood Cerakote variants.
