Warlock

Description

The Warlock is a Boosted Wizard. 

The Wizard was the first signature yo-yo for team player Will Prater. It was a very large diameter 6061 aluminum alloy yo-yo with a very unique feel. 

What is Boosted? It is a re-designed 6061 alloy yo-yo made in 7075 alloy. The trick is that 7075 has a higher density so it weighs more. If we took the same design and made it out of both alloys the 7075 version would be heavier - we’ve done this and we called it GZR. The yo-yos ended up having a very similar feel in play save for one feeling a bit heavier. 

Boosted is a much more interesting idea. We change the design significantly so that the resulting yo-yo is LIGHTER! At the same time we try to keep the profile shape the same. The changes are mostly invisible to the eye but they are felt in a big way when you throw it. Our experience and physics (hi Dirty Birdy) have taught us that the most impact to how a yo-yo feels in play comes from the weight distribution. If you throw a Wizard and then a Warlock you can experience this idea in a very tangible way. In this case the Warlock ended up 2 grams lighter than a Wizard with more rim weight. Is one better than the other? That’s going to be subjective. Both are amazing. The visual way to tell the difference is that the floor of the cup is bigger in the Warlock.

"The Warlock is like the wizard's more powerful sibling. I'm drawn to think that Warlocks are a little more... evil by nature? One thing's for sure, this updated design plays deviously awesome! Main design inspiration for me was reducing the overall weight, and hoping that a shift in weight distribution would create something equally as "fun" as the wizard. I really love how the subtle cup differences help distinguish one yoyo from the other with a close inspection. Everything about this yoyo came out better than I could have imagined, and I am pumped to share it with the world!"
